PMFA FORTUNE Video from Austin DeRaedt on Vimeo.
These are videos I edited for Plante Moran. These are videos that are posted on their KShare website to celebrate the people that have made an impact within the company or the milestones the company has reached over the years. I used stock footage from Getty Images and edited the videos on Adobe After Effects.
These videos I edited for Crime Stoppers of Michigan as an intern for their media specialist, Tish Delano. I worked on the chronological placement of the clips, audio enhancement, color correction, logo placement, music choice, and effects for them. These videos were filmed on a Panasonic Micro P2 digital camera and edited on Adobe Premiere.
This was a video that I helped film for Oakland Sports Chiropractic when I was an intern at The Birney Directive Marketing Agency when I was working as their graphic designer and sometimes video producer and editor. This was to showcase their chiropractic specialties on an infant. They also do plenty of other techniques and methods of chiropractic work as well. This was filmed on an iPhone 6 and was edited in Final Cut Pro.
This was an After Effects assignment for my Compositing and Special Effects class at MSU. We were supposed to create our own production company introduction that represents who we are. The reason it is called "A.P.E. Firewood Productions" is because the initials stand for my name "Austin" and my siblings' name which are "Paige", my sister, and "Evan", my brother. The reason firewood is a part of the video is because my dad made a family-oriented firewood business called "A.P.E. Firewood", which my film production company is named after, that sells bundles and cords of firewood to people who are interested in buying it from around where I live. I wanted to visually create the image of an ape cutting firewood since I thought the image was unique and funny. I created the illustrations on Adobe Illustrator and moved it over to After Effects. This was edited in Adobe After Effects.
LOAS - Promo Video - HD from Austin DeRaedt on Vimeo.
This was a video I made for my summer graphic design marketing internship for the company The Birney Directive Marketing Agency. The video was meant to promote the local Lake Orion American Summer event in Lake Orion, Michigan. My boss wanted me to be minimalist in my approach while also having a patriotic theme to the video. I wanted to showcase the food that will be there during Restaurant Week and the people that will attend the Pub Crawl from last year's photos. I edited this in MAGIX Photostory Deluxe.
Family Poetry from Austin DeRaedt on Vimeo.
This was a photo montage story I wrote, directed, and edited for my Intro to Digital Film and Media class for my senior year final semester at Michigan State University. Our assignment was to create a home video using content from our own home videos or other family home videos. I chose to write a poem about my family's Catholic upbringing and the nature of it. This was edited on Adobe Premiere.
This documentary was made as a group assignment for my Filmmaking II class during my junior year at Michigan State University. I was in charge of the light and sound on the project. It's about a shop called, The Record Lounge, that was once at a location on Grand River in East Lansing, MI. We interviewed the owner, Heather, and employee, Bill, and they both shared their enthusiasm about vinyl records, love of music, customers, young generation, expression, etc. They have since moved to a different location. This piece was selected and released at the 1st Annual Pine River Student Film Festival 2017 at Alma College. This was filmed on the Sony HXR-NX5E digital camera and edited on Adobe Premiere.
This was a music video I wrote, directed, edited, and acted in for my Audio and Video class sophomore year at Michigan State University. I used the song "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" by Frankie Valli and the 4 Seasons. My college friend, Sarah Noffsinger, also helped me film and is the starring actress in the video. It is meant to be a lighthearted music video about being stunned by a woman. This was filmed on the Sony HXR-NX5E digital camera and edited on Adobe Premiere.
This was the final film I wrote, directed, edited, and acted in for my Film Directing class during my junior year at Michigan State University. The assignment was meant to display an individual dealing with any type of fear. In this film, I wanted to portray a struggling college student who is dealing with the trials of anxiety, addiction, depression, suicide, friendships, and anger. This was filmed on a DSLR camera and edited on Adobe Premiere.
Jared Gajos Interview from Austin DeRaedt on Vimeo.
This was an assignment required for my Filmmaking II class during my junior year at Michigan State University. This is 60 second documentary I wrote and directed about a Michigan State student, Jared Gajos, who is the leader of the MSU Paranormal Society, a student-run group on campus. This was filmed on the Sony HXR-N5E camera and edited on Adobe Premiere.
This was a group assignment required for my Filmmaking II class during my junior year at Michigan State University. The assignment was to copy a scene from a movie. It was meant to be a fun project, but also help us understand how much work goes into making such a simple scene from a movie. The movie scene we chose to copy was from Derek Cianfrance's The Place Beyond the Pines (2012). It's the part where Ryan Gosling's character Luke Glanton and his auto-mechanic friend Robin Van Der Hook played by Ben Mendelsohn dance to the Bruce Springsteen's song "Dancing in the Dark" after completing a successful bank robbery. This was filmed on the Sony HXR-NX5E digital camera and edited on Adobe Premiere. I helped shoot on the camera, edit, set up the lights, art direct, and act in the scene.
SHATTERED from Austin DeRaedt on Vimeo.
This was a film assignment completed for my film directing class during my junior year at Michigan State University. It's about a young man who is poisoned from a drink given to him by his girlfriend. The girlfriend realizes she left her earring at the scene of the crime and nervously leaves in fear that she will be seen. The grandfather of the young man, who is very distraught over what has happened to his grandson, goes to the gym to release his anger right after the funeral. The whole movie is meant to create a mystery element to it and allow different interpretations. Three students were required to write and direct one part out of a 1 minute film. We all wrote the story together. The two other talented directors were Simon Tessmer, who directed the first part of the video with the young man lying on the floor dying, and Jake Elliot, directed the second part with the young woman smoking a cigarette at night. I directed the last part with the older gentleman in the gym punching the punching bag. Hope you enjoy! This was filmed on a DSLR camera and edited on Adobe Premiere.
This was a 25 second video I had wrote, directed, edited, and acted in for my Intro to Digital Film and Media class for my senior year final semester at Michigan State University. It's about a man who is struggling with urges to crawl around in just his boxers pretending he is a squirrel. The themes I wanted to portray are internal struggle and fantasy. I was inspired by monster films such as Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931), The Wolfman (1941) and An American Werewolf in London (1981). This was filmed on a DSLR camera and edited on Adobe Premiere.
Sympathy for Weirdos from Austin DeRaedt on Vimeo.
This was a video I wrote, directed, edited, and acted in for my Intro to Digital Film and Media class during my senior year at Michigan State University. We had to make a short film that had a three act structure plot. The first act had to end with someone looking out the window. The second act had to end with the shot of feet walking. The third act had to begin with feet walking as well so we just bridged the end of act two as the beginning of act three. The story is about a recluse nerd named Alec who watches a mysterious woman, Colleen, walk across a path that is front of his house. However, Colleen has a secret that she knows that he can't know about and things take a turn. We wanted the film to be a strange eerie thriller mixed in with unsettling humor. This was filmed on a DSLR camera and edited on Adobe Premiere.
Anticipation from Austin DeRaedt on Vimeo.
This was a video I made for my Intro to Digital Film and Media class during my second semester during my senior year at Michigan State University. The assignment was to use footage from other classmates' videos (while also being able to use videos of our own from the class) and make it into our own creative video. I wanted the create a fast paced, chaotic, attacking, and carnivalesque montage using a chronological pattern in the story. Most of the footage was filmed on a DSLR camera ane edited on Adobe Premiere.

This video was a group assignment I helped write, direct, edit, and act with other creative and talented filmmaker class mates for my Intro to Digital Film and Media class during my senior year at Michigan State University. The assignment was to remake another student's film in our class and make it more polished and clean. We wanted the film to be comedic, but also have an action film noir feel to it with the music. This was filmed on a DSLR camera and edited on Adobe Premiere.
During my first semester of my senior year at Michigan State University, I had to make a PSA video for my Compositing and Special Effects. The assignment was to make a PSA on a subject we feel strongly about. I decided to do mine on anxiety and represent signs of anxiety in our lives. We also had to incorporate After Effects in our video to further express the subject. I incorporated different saturated colors to enhance the feeling of intensity for anxiety. I wanted the viewer to experience anxiety when watching it and to understand how strong the feeling can be in our lives. This was filmed on the Sony HXR-NX5E digital camera and edited on Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
This was a 3D animation that I made in Autodesk Maya for my final assignment in my 3D Graphics and Design class during my final semester as a senior at Michigan State University. We had to 3D model, rig, and animate a pop culture character in media. I decided to choose the cartoon character "Grimm" from the classic Cartoon Network show "The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy". The experience in the class allowed me to model and animate a 3D model of Grimm. I used photos from Pinterest, Art Station, and Google Images as a guide and walk through to complete the look of the model. It was difficult, but beneficial assignment.
This was an animation assignment for my 3D Graphics and Design class during my final semester as a senior at Michigan State University. I made this in Autodesk Maya. I had to rig and animate a model of a shark that was already made. I put this up to showcase my experience in animation!
